PRINCETON, N.J. – Five different Bison posted multiple-goal games, led by four first-half scores from Howie Kalter (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy Andover), as the Bucknell men’s water polo team defeated Gannon 16-5 Saturday morning in its first game at the Southern Championships. The third-seeded Bison will now play second-seeded Princeton or seventh-seeded George Washington in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Bucknell (15-13) sprinted out to an 8-1 halftime advantage and three of Kalter’s four goals came in the first quarter. Richie Hyden (Melbourne, Australia/Greenwich (Conn.)) led the Bison with six points on three goals and three assists. He now has 117 points this season and 188 in his two-year career. Randy Ang (Hillsborough, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep), Paul Reamey (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Alex Lampley (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) rounded out the list of multiple-goal scorers for Bucknell with two apiece. Nick Donahue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lawrenceville) earned the start in goal and made two saves and dished out a career-high four assists while playing the first half.
