Bucknell Men's Water Polo Defeats No. 20 Johns Hopkins 11-8 at Eastern Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Jason Rechel (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) scored three goals and Richie Hyden (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) added two goals and an assist as the Bucknell men's water polo team defeated third-seeded and No. 20-ranked Johns Hopkins 11-8 Saturday at the Eastern Championship. The Bison will now play No. 17 Brown in the fifth-place game Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Bucknell (19-13) jumped out to a 7-5 halftime lead and held on for its third win over the Blue Jays this season.

A total of seven Bison players netted goals in the contest, with Josh Sunday (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) also tallying two. Kyle Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) and Alex Lampley (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) each registered one goal and two assists.

Miles Gilhuly (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) posted five saves in goal for Bucknell. He now has 123 saves this season.

The Bison will wrap up their 2007 season Sunday as they try to finish in the top five at Easterns for the fourth consecutive season. Additionally, Bucknell will be going for its first 20-win season since 2000.
