Bucknell Men's Water Polo to Host Southern Championships This Weekend

![]() ![]() LEWISBURG, Pa. - Kinney Natatorium will serve as the host site for this weekend's Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Championships. The three-day, 11-team event will take place Nov. 2-4. A total of 20 games will be played in a span of less than 48 hours. The Southern Championships divides the 11 teams into four "divisions" and each team will play a round-robin schedule within its division. The remainder of the weekend schedule is then a bracketed tournament based on the round-robin results. The top four teams will advance to the Eastern Championship, which will be contested Nov. 16-18 at Princeton and determine the CWPA's NCAA automatic berth. Bucknell (11-13, 3-5 CWPA) is the No. 4 seed in the field and will open its tournament schedule Friday at 7 p.m. against fifth-seeded George Washington. The Bison will then play ninth-seeded Washington & Jefferson Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Bucknell's remaining games during the weekend will be based on its first two results. The nationally ranked (t-16th) Bison finished third at last year's Southern Championships and have finished in the top four 12 consecutive years. The top five seeds are all from Bucknell's division, the CWPA Southern Division, East Region. The bottom six seeds are from the CWPA Southern Division, West Region. Navy garnered the top overall seed. A total of three teams (No. 14 Navy, No. 16 Bucknell, No. 18 Princeton) in the field appear in the latest national rankings. All Bucknell games over the weekend will air live on Bison Vision, via www.BucknellBison.com. Fans who are not already Bison Vision subscribers can sign up for a month subscription for $9.95. All Bucknell games will feature a multi-camera setup with audio commentary, as is customary for Bison Vision events. Additionally, fans can sign up to watch all 20 games of the Southern Championships via Everest Youth Sports (www.eysports.com). A subscription that will cover the entire weekend is $69.95, while a single-game subscription is $19.95. The Bucknell games will also be streamed live via www.eysports.com. The non-Bucknell broadcasts are expected to feature a multi-camera setup and no audio commentary.
The first game of the Southern Championships will take place Friday at 5:45 p.m. (Navy vs. Gannon), while Sunday's championship contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
