GAME SUMMARY
SCORING On USC man advantage... "When you lose the man-advantage 8-1 it puts you at significant disadvantage. We didn't do a good job defending their man-advantage situations. I thought our guys played really well throughout the contest and I think if we had a little bit of help here and there, we would have made them sweat a lot more." On slow start to the game... "I think when your team is put into a man disadvantage as many times as we were, it's tough. Take nothing away from USC, they were 24-1, they have a great, great coach. They were the number one team for most of the year. I really wanted to just come here and push them to the limit and if we would have gotten into the fourth quarter close and it wasn't a 6-1 man-advantage that first quarter on kickouts, I think it would have stretched them. The rest of the way in the third and fourth quarter, I think the difference was a goal or two." USC Coach Jovan Vavic On the USC man-advantage... "I think we did a good job in that area, we scored quite a few. We had eight scores off that advantage. It was the most we scored off having an extra man all season. That was probably the difference in the game." On the team's performance... "I would say maybe a B. I thought we played well when we needed to, I thought our offense was excellent, but I've seen us play better defense. We gave them too many goals. Our guys were nervous, it was a big day for them and we made some silly mistakes." USC Junior Goalie Don Ricci On what needs to be done for next game... "The first thing is to stay focused. I think on a couple of goals we lost focus. The main thing is just keeping our focus and not getting ahead of ourselves." On being nervous during the Final Four... "Of course, of course. I think any competitor should feel that way; if not, there is something wrong. I was pretty nervous before the game. I think every guy on our team was. We expect to win, but regardless of that fact, we are always going to be nervous before a big game." On playing for National Championship Sunday... "Incredible, that's what every Division I player hopes to play for. That's been our goal all season. It's been our goal since day one of coming to USC and it's just one feeling to be here but it's another feeling to actually win. Some of us were on the team in 2003 when we won the championship, so we know that feeling, so we are going to fight for each other to get to that point."
