Bucknell Wrestling Cruises Past Wagner, 47-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Bucknell wrestling team closed out its weekend road trip with a 47-0 victory over Wagner on Sunday evening at the New York Athletic Club. With the win, the Bison move to 4-5 on the season, while the Seahawks slide to 0-5-1.

At 125 pounds, freshman José Matos (Williamstown, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) opened up for the Orange and Blue with a 4-3 decision against Nicholas Keshecki.

Sophomore David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central), ranked No. 20 in the latest InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings, followed up at 133 with the first of five Bison pins, downing Tyler Harmer in the first period.

Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) won by the score of 14-7 in the 141-pound bout against Mike Tutunjian and freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) picked up his eighth major decision of the year, 13-3 over Patrick Larkin at 149.

Sophomore 157-pounder Brantley Hooks (Spartanburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) registered a 6-3 decision against Sean Quinn and sophomore Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area), currently ranked No. 20 at 165, posted a 17-6 major decision in his bout versus Larry Peotter.

The Orange and Blue then closed out the meet with four straight pins, Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) in 1:50 over Peter Morano at 174, freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) in 4:15 over Ed Broderick at 184, freshman Charlie Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) in 2:28 over Anthony Interiano at 197 and heavyweight George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) in 1:36 over John Graeffe.

 

 

Bucknell will next travel to Hampton, Va., for the Virginia Duals on Jan. 11-12. The parings for the event are expected to be announced on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
