Bucknell Wrestling Falls to Maryland, 23-10
Jan. 15, 2011 HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. - Wrestling for the second time this weekend, Bucknell lost to Maryland, 23-10, Saturday night at Lower Dauphin High School. Derek Reber (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area), Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) and Jay Hahn (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) posted victories for the Bison, who lost at No. 13 Rutgers Friday night. While Bucknell (3-8) claimed just three of the 10 bouts, it lost just once (at heavyweight) by bonus points. Maryland (9-3), which had three ranked grapplers in its lineup and was considered the home team, extended its winning streak to four with the 13-point victory. LeValley, who is ranked fourth nationally at 149 pounds, suffered his first loss of the year Friday, but was able to bounce back Saturday with an 8-0 major decision over Ben Dorsay. LeValley's record improved to 19-1 as he posted his fifth win by major decision this season. Reber won for the third time in his last five bouts as he defeated Brian Marcoux at 125 pounds, 7-2, giving the Bison the early 3-0 lead in the team score. Hahn closed the Bucknell deficit to 20-10 with one bout remaining with an 11-7 decision at 197. He kept pace with LeValley for the team lead in wins as he improved to 19-6 this season. Bucknell, which has not wrestled at home since Dec. 17, will return to Davis Gym for a pair of matches next weekend. The Bison will host Old Dominion Friday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. and Liberty Sunday, Jan. 23, at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
