ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Bucknell junior 165-pound wrestler Corey Lear (Orangeville, Pa./Benton Area) posted a 1-1 record Friday in the consolation bracket at the NCAA Championships. The first-time NCAA participant was eliminated from the double-elimination competition as he accumulated a 2-2 record during the event.

Lear, who advanced in the consolation bracket Thursday with a pin vs. Michigan State's David Cheza, opened Friday's competition with a 4-2 decision against Oklahoma State's Dallas Bailey. The win avenged a 9-7 loss to Bailey during the regular season.

Two wins shy of guaranteeing a top-eight showing, Lear then faced ninth-seeded Conrad Polz from Illinois and was pinned in 33 seconds.

Lear finished his junior campaign with an 18-11 overall mark. He is now 62-35 in his three-year career, the most victories among current Bison.

Freshman 125-pounder Austin Miller (Mount Joy, Pa./Hempfield) also competed at the NCAA Championships, but went 0-2 on Thursday.

The NCAA Championships will conclude Saturday.
