  • LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell head wrestling coach Dan Wirnsberger will appear on Wrestling 411 Radio Thursday evening (March 26). Wirnsberger, who recently led the Bison to a top-30 finish at the NCAA Championships, will be on the show along with Nebraska's Jordan Burroughs at 8 p.m. Eastern. Fans can listen to the show live at www.wrestling411.tv. An archive of the show will also be available.

Wirnsberger, who just completed his third season on the sidelines at Bucknell, saw a school-record six Bison qualify for last week's NCAA Championships. Junior captain Andy Rendos, a member of Wirnsberger's first recruiting class, became the fourth different Bucknell wrestler to earn All-America honors as he finished fifth in the 165-pound weight class.

A 1995 graduate of Michigan State and a three-time All-American himself, Wirnsberger owns a 32-29-2 record in his three years guiding the Bison. The 32 wins are the second-most in program history.

Earlier this month Wirnsberger guided Bucknell to a third-place showing at the EIWA Championships, the best finish in school annals at the event.

Hired to guide Bucknell's program back into the national spotlight after a four-year hiatus where it was not a varsity sport, Wirnsberger has succeeded. After spending a transitional year recruiting and laying the groundwork for a successful program, Wirnsberger brought the Bison back onto the mat in 2006-07 with flying colors.

Under Wirnsberger's direction, the 2006-07 Bison set a school record for dual-meet victories by compiling a record of 12-9-1. Facing a tougher schedule in its second season back as a varsity program, Bucknell went 9-11-1 in 2007-08. This past season, against a difficult slate that featured seven ranked foes, the Bison posted an 11-9 mark.
