Bucknell Wrestling Opens Home Schedule with Tri-Meet on Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling squad, after a challenging road trip last week, will see its first action of the season at home on Saturday, Dec. 1, as the Bison will play host to George Mason and Millersville in a tri-meet that is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Davis Gym. Currently 0-4 in duals (0-1 EIWA), the Orange and Blue will open against George Mason (1-0) and take on Millersville (0-0) later in the afternoon at 4 p.m.

A Look at Bucknell's Probable Starters
- 125: Sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) is 6-4 on the year (0-1 duals) and placed second at the Navy Classic. He is expected to face Denny Herndon (8-3) of George Mason and John Andel of Millersville.
- 133: Sophomore co-captain David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Area) is ranked 15th nationally with an overall record of 9-3 (2-2 duals). His duals wins last week came against Whitt Dunning of Army (14-13) and Terreyl Williams of Appalachian State (10-6). Marble, who posted a runner-up finish at the Binghamton Open and won the 133-pound title at the Navy Classic, is expected to face Joe Coughlin (9-3) and Mark Stockdill.
- 141: Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) holds a record of 5-5 (0-1 duals) and has one pin and two major decisions to his credit. In his one duals bout, Chohany was edged by No. 5 Charles Griffin of Hofstra, 7-4. He is expected to face Brandon Bucher (7-5) and Michael Greck.
- 149: Freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) is 10-5 (2-2 duals) on the season with five major decisions. He was a placewinner at both the Binghamton Open (third) and at the Navy Classic (fourth), while both his duals losses have come against ranked foes (No. 2 Josh Churella of Michigan and No. 5 Scott Ervin of Appalachian State). LeValley is expected to face Aaron Keeton (3-6) and Cody Becker.
- 157: Freshman Ryan Ochalek (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) or sophomore Brantley Hooks (Spartansburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) will get the nod at 157. Ochalek placed fourth at the Navy Classic and is 6-8 (0-4 duals) with two pins, one technical fall and one major decision. Hooks went 3-1 at the Binghamton Open to finish in fourth place, his only action of the season thus far. Their expected opponents are Frankie McLaughlin (14-4) and Jarrett Hostetter.
- 165: Sophomore co-captain Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area). Rendos is tied for the team lead with 11 wins. He is 11-3 (3-1 duals) on the year with two pins and five major decisions. He is currently ranked No. 17 and has a fourth-place finish at the Binghamton Open and a first-place finish at the Navy Classic to his credit. Rendos' only duals loss so far came against then-ranked No. 2 Eric Tannenbaum of Michigan, who moved up to the No. 1 spot this week. Rendos is expected to face Tyler Tisdell (0-0) and Brent Huffman.
- 174: Sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) or freshman Rob Walkto (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) will start at this weight. Riccio placed fourth at the Navy Classic and is 5-5 (2-1 duals) on the year. Waltko holds a 5-5 overall record (0-1 duals) and captured fifth at the Navy Classic. They are expected to face Randy Oates (7-2) and Jeremy Brooks.
- 184: Freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) holds a record of 6-3 (2-2 duals). Thompson opened his collegiate career at the Navy Classic where he went 4-1 with two major decisions to place third. He is expected to face Bill Widener (9-6) and Steve Funk.
- 197: Moving up a weight class, freshman Charlie Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa./North Allegheny) will see his first action of the season at this weight. He holds an overall record of 4-4 (0-0) duals and is expected to face Cayle Byers (11-1) and Raymond Bennett.
- 285: Sophomore co-captain George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) is tied for the team lead in wins with a record of 11-4 (3-1 duals). He placed fifth at both the Binghamton Open and at the Navy Classic, recording two pins at the Binghamton Open. At the Northeast Duals, Hingson went 3-0 with a pin against Matt Guhn of Michigan. He is expected to face Harry Zander (0-1) and Keith McDonald.

 

 

A Recap of the Northeast Duals
- Bucknell battled against tough competition, but was unable to come away with a victory in the team scores, falling in all three of its match-ups at the Northeast Duals on Saturday, Nov. 24. The Bison (0-4) dropped a 33-6 decision to No. 5 Michigan to begin the competition, followed by a 24-12 loss to Appalachian State and closed out the day a 24-15 setback against No. 13 Hofstra.

Sophomore Leaders
- Hingson, Marble and Rendos have been elected captains for the Bison for the 2007-08 season. Marble and Rendos were both NCAA qualifiers as freshmen, Rendos with a third-place finish at the EIWA Championships and Marble with a wild card berth after taking sixth at EIWAs. Rendos went 27-6 in his first year with the Orange and Blue and set a program record for dual-meet wins with a 19-3 mark. Marble posted a 24-13 record as a freshman (16-6 in duals) and Hingson was 14-12 overall, 11-8 in dual-meet competition.
