Seven Bucknell Wrestlers Earn Spots in Latest EIWA Rankings

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Seven members of the Bucknell wrestling squad earned spots in the latest Intercollegiate Wrestling Association's (EIWA) individual rankings and the Bison were tabbed seventh overall as a team. The rankings, which were announced on Monday, are based on a poll of the EIWA's Rankings Committee. Four out of the six squads in front of Orange and Blue in the EIWA team rankings currently appear in the latest USA Today/InterMat/NWCA national poll. Cornell leads the pack at No. 16 nationally, followed by Navy, who is 21st in the country, No. 22 Penn and No. 25 Harvard. For the Bison individually, sophomore 133-pounder David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central) holds down a team-best No. 2 spot at his weight on the EIWA's list, while sophomore Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) is third at 165, sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) is fourth at 125, sophomore heavyweight George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) is fifth and freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon), sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills and freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) are all sixth at 149, 174 and 184, respectively. Rendos and LeValley pace the EIWA in major decisions with seven apiece. Rendos, who is tied for fourth in wins with a record of 14-3, has 10 bonus point victories on the season and a dual-meet record of 6-1. LeValley and Hingson have identical records at 13-5 on the year, while Marble is currently 12-3, Thompson is 9-4, Hart is 8-4 and Riccio is 6-5.
Bucknell will remain idle until the New Year, returning to the mat on Jan. 4, when the squad will travel to No. 8 Missouri for a dual-meet that is scheduled for 8 p.m.
