  • LEWISBURG, Pa. – Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./The Governor’s Academy) and Anthony Rizzo (Wapwallopen, Pa./Holy Redeemer) were honored by the Patriot League on Wednesday. The Bucknell cross country runners swept the men’s half of the awards with Huebner earning Runner of the Week and Rizzo being named Rookie of the Week.

Huebner’s award is the second in three days for the senior co-captain. He was named the Damon’s Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday as a result of his strong outing at the Harry Lang Invitational, hosted by Colgate last Saturday. Huebner finished second overall in the 6.4-kilometer race, crossing the line in 20:36.

Rizzo made a noteworthy debut to his collegiate career. The freshman finished ninth overall in a time of 21:20 and was the top freshman runner at the invitational. Rizzo was also the sixth Bison to cross the finish line.

In part because of Huebner and Rizzo’s award-worthy performances, Bucknell won the Harry Lange Invitational. The Bison outdid the second-place squad from Syracuse by 14 points in the season-opening meet.

The awards are the first of both Huebner’s and Rizzo’s careers.

After a week off, Bucknell is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when it travels to Duquesne.
