BUCKNELL IN THE PATRIOT LEAGUE TOURNAMENT: The Orange and Blue have won five first round games in the 12-year history of the league, including the last two ... The last first-round game the Bison lost was against Colgate (85-69) in the 2000-01 tournament. FEDORJAKA AND THE TOURNAMENT: Head coach Kathy Fedorjaka is 5-4 in the Patriot League tournament in her six seasons at Bucknell. She has suffered losses to Lehigh (59-55, 1997-98), Army (72-67, 1998-99), Colgate (85-69, 2000-01) and Holy Cross (66-63, 2002-03). BUCKNELL VS. LEAGUE: Following is a record of Bucknell vs. every Patriot League school in the tournament. The Bison are 7-10 in tournament action: American - 0-0 Army - 2-1 Colgate - 2-2 Holy Cross - 0-3 Lafayette - 0-2 Lehigh - 0-1 Navy - 3-0 ABOUT THE DRAW: For the first time in three years, Bucknell will not be facing the U.S. Naval Academy in the first round of the Patriot League tournament. The Bison, seeded fifth entering this weekend's championship, will square off against #4 Holy Cross in the quarterfinal round. The Orange and Blue have never played Holy Cross in the opening round, but have not fared well against the Crusaders at neutral sites in the tournament, going 0-2 in two semi-final bouts. BU's #5 seed is the lowest for the squad since the 1994-95 season. That year, the Bison escaped the quarterfinal round with a 53-52 upset over fourth-seeded Colgate, before falling to Holy Cross, 62-39, in the semis. THE HOLY CROSS SERIES: Holy Cross has undoubtedly proven itself to be the toughest Patriot League opponent for the Bison to face. Bucknell holds just a 6-27 record against the Crusaders in a series that began in 1991. Of BU's six victories against Holy Cross, four have come at home, and the other two are at the Hart Center. One of those two wins in Worcester came just last week when the Bison defeated HC 85-82. The Orange and Blue have never won two in a row in the history of the series. REBOUNDING RECORD REACHED: Entering last weekend's last two games of the regular-season, Bucknell senior Desire Almind needed just 19 rebounds to become the Patriot League's single-season record holder in that category. With her 18 board performance at Holy Cross (2/27/04), it took the co-captain just 32 seconds against Colgate (2/29/04) to pull down the record-setting carom, best Holy Cross' Amy O'Brien's record of 344, set during the 1997-98 season. HOLLOBAUGH PEAKING: Freshman Lindsey Hollobaugh has had an impressive first season. The rookie is second on the squad with 16.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Hollobaugh seems to be peaking at just the right time. In the 5-9 guard's last four games, she is averaging 26.0 ppg with 20+ in every contest. In BU's last three victories, Hollobaugh has reached 20 points each time, averaging 25.7 ppg and shooting .622 (28-45) from the floor. SENIORS CLOSING OUT CAREERS: Three Bucknell seniors are reaching the end of their careers. Co-captains Desire Almind and Katie Hettler, and Kristin Valdner are closing out their Bucknell careers this season.
As a class, this year's seniors represent 68 wins over the past four years, the second-highest total for a class in school history (the classes of 2002 and 2003 each amassed 69 victories). In addition, their current .596 winning percentage (68-46) is currently the best in program history.
