BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Trisha Krewson (Sandusky, Ohio/Perkins) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year on Friday night. The freshman is averaging 5.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in first year with Bucknell women’s basketball, helping her to the team’s first Rookie of the Year award since Lindsey Hollobaugh in 2003-04.

Krewson’s accolade follows a selection to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team on Tuesday and a pair of league Rookie of the Week honors this season. The 6-0 guard claimed her first weekly award on Jan. 6 after earning her first career start against Buffalo days before. She tallied then a career-high 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, while registering a career-best four assists.

The second Rookie of the Week honor came after another break-out performance at Navy in February. Krewson improved her career best in scoring with 18 points as she hit her first four three-point attempts. She also tied a personal high in rebounds with seven and shot 2-for-2 from the free throw line, helping the Bison to a perfect 12-for-12 night at the line.

Krewson has seen action in all 27 games for the Bison this season. She has been a member of the starting lineup in each of the last 17 contests, including all 14 Patriot League matchups, placing her fourth on the team for most starts this year.

The Ohio native leads Bucknell freshman in several categories this season, including points per game (5.6), rebounds per game (3.0), minutes per game (24.5), field goal percentage (.376), three-point field goal percentage (.325), free throw percentage (.750) and steals (0.6). She is also second among Bison freshmen in assists per game (1.1).

Other major accolades in the Patriot League awarded Friday night were Lehigh’s Erica Prosser as the Player of the Year and Sue Troyan as Coach of the Year, Navy’s Angela Myers as the Defensive Player of the Year and Army’s Erin Anthony as Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Most awards were voted on by the league’s eight head coaches, while the scholar-athlete of the year was voted on by the league members’ sports information directors.

Bucknell is in action on Saturday, March 7 when it begins its journey to defend its Patriot League Tournament title as the No. 3 seed. Tip off in the quarterfinal round against sixth-seeded Navy is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Lehigh’s Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa. Entering the tournament, the Bison are 16-11 overall and 8-6 in the Patriot League. They concluded the regular season tied for third place in the league.
