LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Vicki Quimby (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson), a standout on the school's women's basketball team, received a special award at the University's annual Senior Athletic Awards Banquet, sponsored by the Bison Club and held at the University on April 30.

Quimby won the Bradley N. Tufts Award, presented for to one male and one female senior athlete "in recognition of exceptional athletic achievement and contributions to Bucknell athletics." Quimby shared the award with men's water polo goalkeeper David Kennedy.

In addition to Quimby and Kennedy, several other student-athletes were honored at the banquet, including the winners of the Christy Mathewson Award, given to the most outstanding athletes in the senior class. Track & field standout Stephanie Bango won the women's Mathewson Award, while men's basketball star Bryan Bailey received the men's Mathewson Award.

Quimby began to make her mark on Bucknell athletics from the moment she set foot on the court, garnering Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors her freshman season. In addition to her selection to the All-Rookie team that season, the 6-0 forward also became just the second freshman in league history to earn a spot on the second-team as well.

A starter in all but 10 games in her career, Quimby bettered her offensive numbers in each of her first three seasons. By the conclusion of her junior year, she had become the second player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point scoring plateau in just her third season. She ended the year with her third-straight selection to the All-Patriot League team and second-consecutive to the first-team.

Named a tri-captain her final season, the forward had another solid year, finishing her career strong with 1,570 points, marking only the third player in the Bucknell annals to surpass the 1,500 mark. In addition, Quimby graduates as the school's all-time rebounding leader, becoming the first player in school history to pull down over 900 caroms. She leaves the program with her name in the top-five in rebounds (902), points (1,570), steals (231) and scoring average (13.5) on Bucknell's all-time charts.

In addition, Quimby ended her career with a selection to the All-Patriot League Second-Team, making her the first player in league history to earn a spot on either the first or second team all four years. In the Patriot League record books, she stands in fifth place on both the scoring and rebounding lists, and finishes her career in ninth place on the all-time steals list.

Bucknell is a highly selective, privately endowed liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 3,550 undergraduate students.
