Amanda Brown Named Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week
Dec. 19, 2005 LEWISBURG, Pa. - Amanda Brown (Richardson, Texas/L.V. Berkner), a freshman guard on the women's basketball team, was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week Monday after scoring a career-high 20 points in Bucknell's 93-92 triple-overtime win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Seven of Brown's team-high 20 points came in overtime. She also grabbed five rebounds and recorded four steals, including two in overtime. Her final steal came with less than 25 seconds on the clock and the score tied at 89-89 and led to a pair of go-ahead free throws by Jacquie Seawright (Olton, Texas/Olton). Brown played a career-high 43 minutes in the victory and turned the ball over just two times while doing much of the ball-handling. The 5-6 Brown is fourth on the Bison in scoring with 9.3 points per game and is averaging 28.0 minutes per game despite coming off the bench in all eight games this year. She has reached double figures in scoring in three of the last four games and is averaging 12.0 points over that span. The unselfish Brown is also tied for the team lead with 18 assists. Brown became the second women's basketball player in three weeks to cop honors as the Bison Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) nabbed accolades two weeks ago.
Bucknell played just the game against UMES last week. The contest, which evened Bucknell's record at 4-4, was the first triple overtime game in the 33-year history of the Bison program.
