Bucknell Women's Crew Competes Against Lehigh

SHAMOKIN DAMN, Pa. - On Sunday, Oct. 6, Bucknell's women's crew team competed against Lehigh on the Susquehanna River. Bucknell's varsity eight boats finished third and fifth, behind Lehigh, during the dual race.

The women's crew team hosted their first dual race of the season. In the novice race, Bucknell placed second between Lehigh's first and second boat.

In the Varsity Eight, Bucknell A Boat placed third behind Lehigh's A and B Boats, while Bucknell's B Boat crossed the line fifth. The A Boat included coxswain Nicole Tomlin, Lauren Ewald, Vi Ngo, Jocelyn Dautel, Kara Schropher, Lauren Donnelly, Joan Wendler, Jill Harrington and Meiko Nevels. In B-Boat coxswain Alison Solano, Diana Scheerbaum, Alyson Buoncristiani, Rachel Trusheim, Jill Pompeii, Jen Prunoske, Candice Olszewski, Liz Ayerle and Charissa Reimer.

Bucknell's Varsity Quadruple placed fourth in the race. The Varsity Quad line-up included, Rebecca Newman, Tracy Menkowski, Julie Engel and Laura Jacque.

"Lehigh has a very strong program and they rowed well today, stated head coach Steve Kish. "We will see them over the course of the year and we are aiming to catch them."

The women's crew team will return to the water Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa. The time will be announced at a later date.
