According to Coach Lewis: "There's nothing like continuity to enhance performance and Michelle's return for a third season can only enhance the performance of our team. And, selfishly, it is fantastic for me that Michelle returns for her third season. She brings to this program an excellent work ethic in terms of her daily preparation. As a coach, her attention to detail is excellent and the results are evident with the improved individual stick skills of our players. Her background as a very accomplished player in the Big East and prior coaching experiences have more than prepared her for coaching at this level. She is assuming additional responsibilities in the areas of coordinating our attack, recruiting, videoediting and financial management for the program this year. Having someone as talented and loyal as Michelle only makes my life easier." Michelle Marks returns to the Bison field hockey program for her third season as assistant coach. Marks is the primary recruiting coordinator for Bison Hockey, liaison for the Sideline Coaches program and will also oversee all videoediting and compliance responsibilities, in addition to the daily office demands of the program. On the field, she will assume the role of "offensive coordinator" and will assist on the defensive end and set pieces. Marks most recently served as an assistant coach at Washington & Jefferson for two seasons. While at W & J, Marks was responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the program including but not limited to the recruitment of student-athletes, individual player skill development, planning of practices and game strategies. In addition, Marks served as head coach for the western Pennsylvania site of the USFHA Futures program for two years. Marks was a four-year starter for the Syracuse Orange and, as a team captain in 2002, was honored for her outstanding play with first-team Mideast Regional All-American honors and first-team All-Big East honors. As a junior, she was instrumental in helping her team win both the Big East regular season title and tournament championship and advancing to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Championships. Beyond her playing experiences at Syracuse, Marks was also involved with the USFHA developmental programs, having been named as an alternate to the 2000 U-19 National Team and was a multiple year participant in the USFHA A-Camp - a selection opportunity for the junior and senior national teams. Marks graduated from Syracuse with a Bachelor of Science degree in retailing and a minor in management. She was a two-time selection to the Syracuse University Athletic Directors' Spring Honor Roll and Big East Academic All-Star in 1999. The Lititz, Pa., and Warwick High School graduate has worked numerous summer camps including Advanced Play, Champions Edge, College Connection, Gateway Field Hockey, Northwestern University, nhQ Inc., Syracuse University, UConn and William & Mary. | ||||||||||||||||
