LEWISBURG, Pa. - Dena Ebert logged a goal and an assist and Bucknell registered its highest scoring output in 31 games in a 5-1 rout of Towson at West Field Wednesday evening. Five different Bison entered the scoring column, as Bucknell won its second straight contest and improved to 2-1 on the season.

Lisa Bingaman, Monica McCorry, Melissa Maher and Kate Ruda also scored for Bucknell, which scored as many as five goals in a game for the first time since a 6-0 win over Siena on Oct. 14, 1999. Bison goalie Sonja Wettergreen recorded five saves and did not allow a goal in 56 minutes of action. Wettergreen extended her scoreless streak to 145:52.

After whistling a pair of shots just wide of the cage in the opening five minutes, Bucknell finally struck first 9:48 into the contest when Lisa Bingaman deflected Ebert's shot past Towson netminder Betsy Crossman. Thirteen minutes later Ebert tallied her first goal of the season with a low blast from the right side of the cage.

McCorry, a senior defender, notched the first goal of her career with seven minutes remaining the opening period, when she slid a shot from the top of the circle through traffic past Crossman. Bucknell assumed a commanding four-goal cushion early in the second half when Maher capitalized on a scramble in front of the cage for her second goal of the year.

Towson (1-3) averted the shutout when Julie Lambi knocked a loose ball past Bison backup goalie Mel Rhoads.

The prettiest goal of the night came in the final minute when freshman Meiko Boynton dribbled through two defenders and sent a precise crossing pass to Ruda, who buried the shot for her first career score.

Bucknell outshot Towson 19-15, with 13 of those shots coming during the first half. Crossman stopped six shots for the Tigers, who held a 9-4 edge in penalty corners. Bucknell snapped a three-game losing streak to Towson and now lead the all-time series 13-6.

The Bison return to action this Saturday with their first road contest of the season at Columbia at 12 p.m.
