BU Drops Conference Opener To Holy Cross

COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY ­ Holy Cross 2, Bucknell 0

Worcester, MA ­ The Bucknell field hockey team suffered a 2-0 setback at Holy Cross on Saturday, September 16, in the team's first Patriot League contest of the season.

Holy Cross dominated the game in every aspect, outshooting the Bison, 29-3, and leading in corners, 15-1, but it wasn't until the five minute mark of the second half that the Crusaders managed a score. With 5:14 remaining in the game, Holy Cross senior Jes Gulino scored the first goal of the contest. Two and a half minutes later, sophomore Liz Tutella added an insurance goal to help the Crusaders to the 2-0 victory.

Bucknell sophomore goalkeeper Sonja Wettergreen (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) made a season-high 23 saves in the net.

The Bison are 2-4 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League and will host LaSalle in a non-league contest on September 19, at 4:30 p.m.
