Lewisburg, Pa. - On the strength of their largest offensive output since 2001, also a six-goal effort against St. Francis, the Bucknell field hockey team defeated St. Francis (Pa.), 6-2, at Graham Field on Tuesday afternoon. Two freshmen, Heather Rogers and Haley Rosengarten, had the first goals of their Bucknell careers against the Red Flash.

Scoring opened 6:41 into the first half, when Kate Ruda put one from Kirsten Nilsen past Red Flash goalie Theresa King. It was the senior defender's fourth goal of the year. Less than four minutes later, Kirsten Nilsen had an unassisted goal to put the Bison ahead 2-0.

The game stood at 2-0 until just after the 25-minute mark of the first half, when Carli Cataldo had her second goal of the year, putting the Bison ahead 3-0.

St. Francis got on the board at the 26:24 mark when Jill Neary had her first of two goals on the game, both on penalty corners, and both on assists from Jessica Cousins and Erin Davis. The teams entered halftime with Bucknell ahead, 3-1.

Bucknell widened its lead on two penalty strokes. Kelly O'Brien, the reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, had her fifth goal on the year, and Rogers followed with her first career goal. With 8:17 to go in the game, Rosengarten had her first career goal, beating goalie Kristen Onto on a pass from Nilsen, making the score 6-1.

St. Francis added its last goal with no time left on the clock on the second of two consecutive penalty corners.
