WASHINGTON, D.C. - In rainy conditions at William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex on Saturday afternoon, the Bucknell field hockey team fell to No. 15 American, 2-0. This marks the Bison's fifth straight loss on the season falling to 4-6 (0-2 PL), while the Eagles improved to 9-4 (2-0).

In the ninth minute, American's Tiffany Carter scored off a one-time shot from teammate Denise Infante, to put the Eagles on the board and the half would end with the Eagles up 1-0. American held the advantage in shots and penalty corners, 7-0, 3-0, at intermission respectively.

The score remained 1-0 through most of the second half. In the 68th minute of the game, American would seal the victory when Jesika Pufnock found a gap in the Bison defense for the second goal of the match.

Senior Emily Groendyke (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) notched five saves for the Orange and Blue while Allison Fayfich recorded three saves for the Eagles. The Bison were outshot 14-4, while losing the advantage in penalty corners, 5-1.

The Bucknell returns home to Graham Field on Saturday, Oct. 7, to battle Colgate in its third Patriot League game of the year. The match will begin at 12 p.m.
