WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bucknell field hockey team fell to Patriot League opponent Holy Cross, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. The loss drops the Bison to 5-8 on the season, and 1-2 in the Patriot League.

The Crusaders struck with just 4:26 gone by in the first half when Susie Whelan put Holy Cross up, 1-0, on an assist from Laura Potts.

Christina Zorzi contributed two goals in the Crusader win. Her first score came with just three seconds to go in the first half making the score 2-0 going into the break. Zorzi's scored her second goal with 22:25 to go in the second frame on an assist from teammate Jenna Cook.

The Holy Cross offense outshot Bucknell 21-9. The Crusaders were also awarded 18 penalty corners to Bucknell's eight.

Bucknell goalie Liz Jordan made 12 saves in 60:48 of action. Sophomore Emily Groendyke entered the game with 9:12 to go and made her first two saves of the season. Holy Cross goalie Sony Kuhn notched nine saves in 70:00 of play.

The Bison will be in action again on Wednesday when they host the Villanova Wildcats at 6 p.m. at home at Graham Field. Bucknell resumes Patriot League play on Saturday, October 16, against Lafayette at 1 p.m. in Easton, Pa.
