Catamounts Edge Bison Field Hockey, 2-1
Oct. 20, 2002 BURLINGTON, Vt. - Bucknell's Fall Break trip to New England began with a hard-fought 2-1 loss at Vermont on Sunday afternoon. The Bison (5-9) dropped their third straight contest, while the Catamounts (5-11) snapped a four-game losing streak. Vermont's Kristen MacDonald scored an unassisted goal following a penalty corner with 6:16 remaining in regulation to snap a 1-1 tie. The Bison trailed 1-0 at the half on Christie Layden's goal, but tied it 18 minutes into the second half when Meiko Boynton registered her team-leading seventh tally of the season. Cara Turner assisted on the play. The Catamounts outshot Bucknell 8-3 in the first half and 10-4 overall. Sonja Wettergreen made six of her seven saves in the opening 35 minutes.
