Field Hockey Hangs Tight With #12 James Madison

HARRISONBURG, Va. -
Number 12 ranked James Madison got goals from four different players en route to a 4-1 win over Bucknell on Sunday, October 8, at Bridgeforth Stadium.

The Bison limited JMU to just one first-half goal, on a penalty-corner play by Elisa van Ballegooie with 13:18 remaining. Bucknell then tied the game on a Lauren Campbell (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) penalty stroke just 1:19 into the second half.

The Dukes, however, scored twice on penalty corners within a span of 2:23 to go up 3-1. Liz Sander, ranked second in the nation in scoring, got her 23rd goal of the season 4:06 into the second half to put JMU up 2-1. Then Ryan Shean backhanded a shot into the goal 6:29 into the period for the two-goal advantage.

Kandiss Edmundson tipped a ball from Theresa Dinallo into the goal with 10:16 left in the game for JMU's fourth and final score.

The Orange and Blue fall to 7-6 overall and continue their road trip with a 7:00 p.m. game at #6 Penn State on Wednesday, October 11. James Madison improves to 10-3 on the season.
