FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield freshman Nicole Mazzocchi scored her second game-winning goal in as many games, as Fairfield University defeated Bucknell University by a 1-0 score in the overtime in Patriot League field hockey action on Saturday, October 25.

The Bison held an almost two-to-one advantage in shots during regulation, but Fairfield goalkeeper Lauren Thomas kept the game scoreless by making eight saves. Orange and Blue goalkeeper Liz Jordan, coming off of one of the most impressive games of her career at #7 Penn State, was equally as effective with four saves, three of which came in the second half.

The Stags received their game-winning opportunity in the 76th minute, when Bucknell was whistled for an infraction to set up a penalty corner. Senior Julie Knoblich put the ball into play, which was received by Becca Odenwaelder. She sent the ball to Mazzocchi, who beat Jordan to the right-side of the net.

Bucknell falls to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison take the road to Towson on Tuesday, October 28 for a non-conference game against the Tigers, before wrapping up the regular-season with their final home game against American on Saturday, November 1.

Fairfield improves to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League.
