Eleven Bucknell Field Hockey Players Named to NFHCA All-Academic Team
March 6, 2003 LEWISBURG, Pa. - Well known for its outstanding work in the classroom as well as on the field, the Bucknell field hockey team placed 11 student-athletes on the 2002 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National All-Academic Squad. That total is tied for the sixth-highest among all Division I teams, trailing only Stanford (15), LaSalle (14), West Chester (13), Old Dominion (12) and Yale (12). The Bison field hockey squad finished 7-12 in 2002 and advanced to the four-team Patriot League Tournament at season's end. The team also finished with a combined 3.20 grade-point average. Three of Bucknell's all-academic recipients were also members of the All-Patriot League Team, including first-team selections Kate Ruda and Meiko Boynton. Amy Marvel was a second-team all-conference performer, as well as an all-academic choice. Ruda also went on to earn STX/NFHCA All-Region accolades.
