LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the fourth time this season, Bucknell field hockey has claimed the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Kayla Sullivan (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) became the latest Bison to nab honors after the freshman scored her first two career goals and helping Bucknell go 1-1 last weekend.

Sullivan netted her first career goal on Saturday in Bucknell's 7-0 victory over Colgate. The unassisted score came with just 37 seconds remaining in the game. Sullivan then tallied the game-tying goal the next day at Rutgers. After falling behind by two goals, Sullivan helped make it 2-2 early in the second half. Bucknell eventually fell 4-3 in overtime to the Scarlet Knights.

Defensively, Sullivan played a key role in shutting out Colgate to start the conference schedule on the right foot. It was the second shutout of the season for the Bison, which also defeated Towson 6-0 in mid-September.

The Patriot League Rookie of the Week title is the first of Sullivan's career. She is the second Bison this fall to earn the honor, joining classmate Kiersten Sydnor (Shippensburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy), who was recognized Aug. 27, Sept. 3, and Sept. 17.

Bucknell will continue its Patriot League schedule with a 1 p.m. matchup against Holy Cross at Worcester, Mass., on Saturday. Play resumes at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Harvard.
