LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team is set for two home games this weekend, against No. 15 American on Oct. 6, and against Penn on Oct. 7. Saturday's game will mark the Bison's second Patriot League match-up of the season, set to begin at 12 p.m. Sunday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Bison Field Hockey Notebook
On the No. 15 American Eagles -
- American is 9-3 on the season and 1-0 in Patriot League play, picking up a win against Colgate (2-1). The Eagles have recorded five shutouts on the season, against Richmond (4-0), VCU (1-0), Northeastern (1-0), Kent State (3-0) and Northwestern (7-0). The Eagles have also defeated Radford (5-1), Princeton (3-2) and Ohio State (3-1), while dropping games to No. 2 Maryland (4-0), Saint Joseph's (2-1 OT) and No. 20 Syracuse (3-1).
- American is ranked No. 15 on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I poll, and is No. 1 in the Patriot League, as of Tuesday, Oct. 2.
- On the season, American has netted 31 goals off of 163 shot attempts for a shot percentage of .577. The Eagles have allowed 14 goals and hold a goals-against average of 1.14.
- Senior Denise Infante leads the Eagles with 19 points (7g, 5a) and is followed by sophomore Savannah Graybill with 14 points (6g, 2a).
- Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Poorman has played in all 12 games for the Eagles (859 minutes 43 seconds), making 36 saves for a save percentage of .720. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Weitzman has played 10:44, making three saves for a save percentage of 1.000.
- Last season, American played Bucknell in Washington, D.C. for a 2-0 win on Oct. 7.
On the Penn Quakers -
- On the NFHCA Division I poll, released Tuesday, Oct. 2, Penn was on the list of "others receiving votes" with 12 points.
- Sunday's game against Bucknell will mark the Quakers' third game of the week with the first against Villanova on Wednesday, Oct. 3 (5-4 OT loss), and the second against Lock Haven on Friday, Oct. 5.
- After Wednesday night's game, the Quakers are 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Penn has defeated Lafayette (1-0), Cornell (3-2), and Dartmouth (5-1), while dropping games to Temple, Kent State, Saint Joseph's, Harvard and Villanova.
- As of Oct. 3, the Quakers have netted 18 goals off of 88 shot attempts for a shot percentage of .205. Penn has allowed 20 goals and holds a goals-against average of 2.44.
- Junior Margaretha Ehret leads the Quakers after eight games with 10 points (4g, 2a). She is followed by senior Meghan Rose with nine points(3g, 3a).
- After 572:47 of play, junior goalkeeper Alanna Butera has made 47 saves for Penn, for a save percentage of .691.

On Bucknell Against Lehigh Last Saturday -
- Bucknell opened Patriot League play with a 3-2 loss in overtime at Lehigh after leading the game, 2-0, through the first 63 minutes of play. The loss brought the Bison to a 6-4 overall record and 0-1 record in the Patriot League.
- Junior
Trina Boyer (Macungie, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) got the Bison off to an early lead, notching her sixth goal of the season off an assist by sophomore
Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) 3:29 into the first half. Freshman
Morgan Kauffman (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor HS) went unassisted for her second goal of the season, to give Bucknell a 2-0 advantage over the Mountain Hawks at the 11:35 mark.
- The Bison held Lehigh (5-5, 1-0 PL) off until the 63rd minute when the Mountain Hawks rallied for two goals, by Lindsay Smith and Kalynn Davies to bring the score to 2-2, forcing overtime.
- Just 4:48 into the extra period, Lehigh's Christy Smith went unassisted to give the Mountain Hawks the 3-2 win.
- Sophomore goalkeeper
Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) played 74:48 for the Bison and made four saves off Lehigh's seven shots on goal. The Mountain Hawks' goalkeeper Jessica Miller made one save in the contest.
On the Bison in 2007 -
- Bucknell holds a 6-4 overall record and 0-1 Patriot League record in 2007, picking up wins against Kent State (3-2, OT), Monmouth (8-2), Towson (4-3), La Salle (1-0, OT), Saint Francis (Pa.) (4-0), and Georgetown (3-2, OT). The Bison have dropped games to then-No. 13 Ohio State, then-No. 17 Delaware, Lock Haven, and Lehigh.
- The Bison have netted 30 goals off 131 shot attempts for a shot percentage of .229 this season. Bucknell has allowed 28 goals and hold a goals-against average of 2.67.
- Krebs leads the Bison with 16 points (6g, 4a) and is tied as Bucknell's leading scorer with Boyer and senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley), with six goals each.
- Krebs is followed by Hoffman with 14 points (6g, 2a), Boyer with 12 points (6g), and junior Amanda Faust (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) with 10 points (2g, 6a).
- Goalkeeper Atieh has played in eight games for the Bison, making 42 saves and recording a save percentage of .600. Sophomore goalkeeper Diana Bartley (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) has played two games this season for Bucknell, notching two shutouts, against La Salle (1-0 OT) and against Saint Francis (Pa.) (4-0).
Honors and Rankings -
- Bucknell is fourth in the Patriot League with an overall record of 6-4, PL record of 0-1, and overall winning percentage of .600. American leads the way with an 9-3 overall record, 1-0 PL record, and .750 overall winning percentage.
- Three Bison field hockey players notched Patriot League weekly honors on Sept. 24. Hoffman was named Offensive Player of the Week, Faust took Defensive Player of the Week, and Atieh claimed Goalkeeper of the Week.
- On Sept. 17, Krebs took Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors for posting four points by notching a goal against Lock Haven, and netting the game-winning score against La Salle in the extra period. Bartley was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept.17, for recording eight saves in her first game of the season, to help the Bison secure their first shutout in 2007.
- Faust tabbed Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week Honors on Sept. 4 after leading the Bison to an 8-2 victory over Monmouth in the home opener on Sept. 1.
- On Aug. 27, Krebs was named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week for making a 3-2 win against Kent State possible for Bucknell by scoring the goal that tied the score and having the game-winning assist in overtime.

- After the upcoming two-game weekend, the Bison will travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Colgate on Oct. 13, and to Ithaca, N.Y., to play Cornell on Oct. 15.
