LEWISBURG, Pa. - A pair of Bucknell field hockey players picked up weekly awards for their performances during the Bison's 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Colgate last Saturday. Sophomore Katie Leinen (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week, while senior goalkeeper Liz Jordan (Towson, Md./St. Paul's School) copped Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Katie Leinen was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal against Colgate.

Leinen, just a sophomore, scored the game-winning goal with just 3:53 left to upend the host Raiders and give Bucknell its first Patriot League victory of the year. The goal came on a breakaway for Leinen, who missed her freshman season in 2004 while nursing a leg injury.

On the other end of the field Jordan, who earned Bison Athlete of the Week honors in August, made six saves and allowed just two goals to Colgate. She eclipsed 100 saves for the third consecutive year as she increased her total to 105. She leads the Patriot League in saves, saves per game (9.55) and save percentage (.795). She also owns a 2.11 goals-against average.

Bucknell, which broke a three-game losing streak with the win over Colgate, will travel back to upstate New York Tuesday, Oct. 11, for a 7 p.m. game at Cornell. The Bison next play at home Saturday, Oct. 15, when they host Holy Cross at 12 p.m.
