LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey’s Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) earned a shutout in her final career game at Graham Field, and her performance in net earned the senior the title of Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday. By helping Bucknell earn the 3-0 victory over Holy Cross on Saturday, Atieh and the Bison finished their regular season with a piece of the Patriot League regular-season title for the first time in program history.

The shutout was the second the season for Atieh and the third of her career. The senior co-captain needed to make just two saves to blank the Crusaders, and both of those plays came in the second half. With the victory, Atieh’s 2009 record improved to 11-6, moving her into a first-place tie at Bucknell in single-season wins. The 11 victories is also a career best.

Atieh also ranks among the university’s leaders in career saves and career victories. Through nearly four full years, Atieh is fourth in wins with 25 and eighth in saves with 226.

The Goalkeeper of the Week honor is the third of the season for Atieh and the fourth of her career. She also earned the award after defeating Temple (2-1) and Lafayette (1-0).

Atieh and the second-seeded Bison will have another shot at No. 3 Lafayette on Friday, Nov. 6 in the Patriot League Tournament Semifinals. The game, which will take place at American University, is slated for 1:30 p.m. Bucknell enters the tournament with a 12-6 record overall and 4-1 in the Patriot League.
