Bucknell Women's Golf Moves up to Eighth at William & Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Bucknell women's golf team chopped six strokes off its first-round score and moved up a spot to an eighth-place finish at the William & Mary Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at Ford's Colony CC. Bucknell entered the day tied for ninth but shot 323 to move up to eighth in the competitive 18-team field.

Teri Schlang shot 78 and Amy Loughney 79 to lead the Bison on Sunday. Kathryn Batchelor and Deirdre Moran both shot 83, while Emily Chiodo carded an 85 for Bucknell, which passed Siena and Columbia in the final round.

Toledo ran away with the team title with a 36-hole score of 602. Rounding out the top 10 were William & Mary (628), Virginia (634), High Point (638), Methodist (640), Longwood (648), William & Mary "Green" (650), Bucknell (652), Dartmouth (656), Columbia (659) and Siena (659).

Kim Kester of Toledo won the individual title with rounds of 75 and 72. Her 147 composite was three strokes better than teammates Tammy Clelland and Joanna Periversoff. Charlotte Williams of Methodist was fourth at 151. Loughney was Bucknell's top finisher at 159. She tied for 21st.

The Bison are back in action next weekend at the Georgetown Invitational.
