Bucknell Women's Golf in Sixth After 36 Holes of Tina Barrett/Poplar Hill Invitational

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) shot 77-81 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team into the top half of the field at the Tina Barrett/Poplar Hill Invitational on Monday. Playing the first 36 holes in the 54-hole event, the Bison opened with a team score of 326 then improved to 319 in the afternoon. The 645 total puts them in sixth place in the 13-team field. Gardner-Webb has the lead at 623, two shots better than High Point. Moran's 36-hole sum of 158 has her in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings. Moran, who was coming off a career-best 74 in her last outing at William & Mary, is eight shots behind the leader, Diana Meza of James Madison. After carding an 87 in the first round, Teri Schlang (Scottsdale, Ariz./Stratton Mountain School) matched Moran's 77 in round two. Bucknell's third round in the 70s came from Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), who shot 79 in the afternoon after opening with an 83. Also for Bucknell, Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) shot 80-88 and Kathryn Batchelor (Lawrenceville, N.J./Princeton Day School) shot 86-82. The third and final round is scheduled to begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday at Poplar Hill Golf Club.
