Bucknell Women's Golf Remains in Seventh at PUPS Big South Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Teri Schlang (Scottsdale, Ariz./Stratton Mountain School) posted Bucknell's low round of the day, an 8-over-par 79, helping the Bison chop 15 strokes off their first-round score on day two of the PUPS Big South Championship at Coosaw Creek Country Club. The Bison shot 328 on Tuesday to remain in seventh place with 18 holes yet to play. On Monday evening Schlang was named to the Big South Academic All-Conference Team, then she went out and equaled her second-best career round in Big South Championship play. Junior Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) began the day in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings after opening with a 77, but she came in with an 81 and slipped back to a tie for 13th place. Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) and Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) both shot 84 for the Bison. Buoyed by 1-under 70s from Jill Stupiansky and Sara Hunt, Birmingham Southern (598) shot a blistering 287 in round two and now has a 17-shot advantage over second-place Coastal Carolina (615). Winthrop (630), Charleston Southern (638), Radford (653) and High Point (658) are also situated in front of the Bison (671). Holy Cross (788) is in eighth place. Birmingham Southern boasts the top three individual performers, with Stupiansky up by two shots on Jordan Hardy and four on Hunt. Round three of the championship gets underway on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.
