COLLEGE WOMEN'S GOLF: Bucknell finishes in a tie for 7th at the Princeton Invititational

Piscataway, N.J. --- The Bucknell women's golf team competed this weekend at the Rutgers Invitational. After having finished 4th out of 13 teams in 1999, the team faltered a bit this weekend shooting an aggregate score of 692 (346-346) and finishing in 8th out of 17 teams.

The Orange and Blue shot a 346 on the first day and found themselves in a tie for eighth place with Hampton. The second round saw a change in fortune for the Bucknell linksters as their scores inflated a bit. Leading the way for the Bison was sophomore Molly Campbell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) shooting a 36-hole score of 164 (84-80) which would put her in a tie for ninth place at the invitational. Following Campbell's example was junior Hilary Mainka (Jenkintown, Pa./Germantown Academy) who after shooting a fabulous first round score of 81 fell off the pace a bit in the second round shooting 90. Mainka still finished in a respectable tie for 15th.

The women's golf team will have some time to hit the practice tee before their next competition. The Bison will play next in the Patriot League Individual Championship on Sunday, October 15 at a course still to be named.
