Bison Women's Golf Takes Second at Rutgers, Ties Team Record for 36 Holes

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Led by junior Molly Campbell and senior Hilary Mainka, the Bucknell University women's golf team enjoyed their highest team finish for the season this afternoon at the Rutgers Invitational. The Bison placed second out of 17 teams, and with a final score of 647, Bucknell tied the school record for the lowest 36-hole round. After finishing third following day one of the invitational, Bucknell shot a 326 on day two to surpass the University of Pennsylvania. The Bison ended up just seven strokes behind invitational champion Central Connecticut State. Campbell had the hot hand for the Bison this afternoon, shooting a career-best 77 to tie the Bucknell record for the lowest individual 18-hole round. Campbell finished in a tie for fifth place with a 36-hole mark of 158. One day after tying the school record for an individual 18-hole round, Mainka posted an 82 on the second day, giving her a score of 159, good for a seventh-place tie. Junior Jess Hetrich and freshman Jaime Hays contributed to the team scoring, shooting 81 and 86, respectively. Hetrich tied for 14th out of the 86 competitors, while Hays tied for 24th. Junior Catherine Crews also competed and shot a 95. The Bison continue their season Monday when they travel to the East Carolina Invitational.
