Another Record Falls for Bucknell Women's Golf

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Bucknell University women's golf team broke their second team record of the season this afternoon at the East Carolina Invitational. Over the final 18 holes of the 54-hole invitational, the foursome of junior Jess Hetrich, senior Hilary Mainka, freshman Jaime Hays and junior Molly Campbell combined to shoot a 319, a new school record for 18 holes by two strokes. Bucknell finished the tournament with an overall team score of 978, good for ninth place among 18 teams. Hetrich and Mainka each recorded a 78 on the par-71, 5,850-yard Greenville Country Club, and enjoyed their finest round of the tournament today. The two also missed tying their career-best 18 hole-hole round (77) by just one stroke. Hetrich finished the invitational in a tie for 25th place 93 competitors with a 239, and Mainka ended up tied for 62nd with a 252-stoke total. Hays recorded an 80 over the final 18 holes to establish a new career-best. She finished tied for 44th with a total score of 246. Campbell shot an 83 on day two to complete the Bison's record-setting performance, and tied for 30th overall with a 241. Also competing on the afternoon was junior Catherine Crews, who shot a 94. The Bison continue their busy schedule this weekend when they host the ECAC Championship on Oct. 20-21 at the Bucknell University Golf Club.
