Bucknell Women's Golf Moves up to Sixth-Place Finish at Yale Invite
Oct. 17, 2004 NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Amy Loughney fired a final-round 78 to help the Bucknell women's golf squad pass two teams on Sunday and finish sixth at the Yale Invitational. With rounds of 344 and 338, the Bison finished ahead of three Ivy League teams in Dartmouth, Harvard and Brown. Loughney chopped 10 strokes off her first-round score and finished in a tie for 16th place, highest among the Bucknell quintet. Kristen Phalen (81-86) finished one shot behind Loughney and tied for 18th place. Emily Chiodo (89-85) and Teri Schlang (86-89) also scored for Bucknell, while Jaime Hays struggled with rounds of 98 and 91. Host Yale defeated Richmond in a playoff for the team title after the Spiders made up a four-shot deficit on Sunday. The Bulldogs and Spiders both finished 36 holes in 650. Georgetown shot 652 and Rollins 654, followed by Boston College (670), Bucknell (682), Dartmouth (683), Harvard (685) and Brown (687). Charlotte Campbell of Rollins took the individual title with rounds of 73 and 75. Christy Larrimore (81-71) of Georgetown was runner-up. The Bison host the Bucknell Invitational next weekend to wrap up the fall season.
