Bucknell Women's Golf Ties School Record with 319 at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Bucknell's women's golf team saved its best fall performance for last, tying the school record with a 319 team total Saturday en route to a solid fifth-place finish at the Rutgers Invitational.

Led by Celine Herbin's five-over 77, four Bison shot 82 or better as the team tied the school mark for low 18 holes, set on Oct. 16, 2001 at East Carolina. Bucknell's 36-hole total of 648 was one stroke off the school mark of 647, set at the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 12-13, 2001.

Led by medallist Alison Walshe (69-75), Boston College won the event with a 606 composite, followed by St. John's (619), Georgetown (645), Rutgers (645) and the Bison. Harvard was five strokes behind Bucknell at 653.

Herbin's 77 was the fourth-lowest round in the field on Saturday, and she finished in a tie for 11th overall with a 36-hole score of 157.

Freshmen Teri Schlang and Stephanie Calhoun both set personal bests with rounds of 80 on Saturday. Schlang finished in a tie for 18th place at 161, while Calhoun tied for 36th at 167. Jaime Hays shot 81-82 and tied for 26th.

Eight of Herbin's 11 rounds were in the 70s this fall, as she posted a school-record scoring average of 79.5.
