Bucknell Women's Golf 2007 Fall Schedule

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- When Cristie Kerr held off the world's top-ranked player, Lorena Ochoa, to win the U.S. Women's Open Title at Pine Needles Resort in North Carolina last week, the Bucknell women's golf team was surely paying close attention. That is because this fall the Bison will be playing in a tournament on that very same U.S. Open course.

The Oct. 29-30 Ross Resorts Invitational, hosted by Rollins College at Pine Needles, is the highlight in a very challenging fall schedule put together by seventh-year head coach Kevin Jamieson.

A week later, the Bison will compete in the Firestone Grill Invitational at Cypress Ridge, which is one of the top-rated courses in Calfornia.

Also this fall, Bucknell will play at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational (Sept. 29-30), the Rutgers Scarlet Knight Invitational (Oct. 12-13) and the Richmond Spider Invitational (Oct. 15-16).

"Our schedule has become more difficult each year, based on the team's outstanding play," said Jamieson. "The sign of a strong golf program is the schedule that you put together, because every tournament that we play in is an 'Invitational.' That means that our peers respect the program that we have put together at Bucknell and feel that we can help build the strength of their tournaments."

The Bison return four starters in 2007-08, including two-time All-Big South honoree Amy Loughney.
