Bucknell's Emily Chiodo Named NGCA All-American Scholar
July 9, 2008
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell women's golfer Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), a Dean's List student who graduated in May with a degree in management, has been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. Chiodo, who enjoyed her best season and was one of Bucknell's top players in 2007-08, earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the spring semester and graduated with a 3.63 cumulative GPA. In order to make the NGCA All-American Scholar-Team, candidates must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled competitions during the season. Chiodo finished the 2007-08 campaign with a career-best 80.6 scoring average. That ledger included a school record-tying 73 in the second round of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at Oklahoma on Apr. 6. The 1-over par score helped the team shoot a school-record 308 that day. Also member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, Chiodo had two top-20 finishes during her senior year. She placed 15th at the Big South Championship and T-17th at the Richmond Spider Invitational. As a team, Bucknell finished fourth at the 2008 Big South Championship, it's best ever.
