LEWISBURG, Pa. - Twenty-three institutions will be represented this weekend in the ECAC Women's Open Golf Championship at the Bucknell University Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.

The team competition will feature a 21-team field, while individual qualifiers from 23 schools will also compete for individual honors.

The University of Hartford will look to defend its team title after claiming its second title in three years last year, defeating runner-up Yale University in the 2000 Championship. Individual runners-up Tara Fiscella of Brown University and Sarah Seo of Yale will look to capture the individual title. The title was won in dramatic fashion last year as Katrina Lekovic of Hartford defeated Fiscella in a playoff round.

Other teams vying for the team title include Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, Central Connecticut, State University College at Cortland, Dartmouth, Fairfield, Georgetown, Harvard, Hofstra, James Madison, Lehigh, Monmouth, Maryland, Baltimore County, Penn State, Princeton, Rutgers, St. Francis (Pa.), Wagner, William & Mary and Yale. In the individual competition, St. Thomas Aquinas and Western Maryland will be represented.

Bucknell, which will be participating in its final match of the season this weekend, will try to close out its 2001 fall campaign on a high note after what has been an outstanding season. Among the Bison's highlights this year include a pair of new school records and a second-place finish at the Rutgers Invitational. Competing in its fourth season as a varsity sport, the team broke the Bucknell record for a 36-hole round (647) at Rutgers, and the Bison established a new team record for 18 holes (319) at the East Carolina Invitational. Individually, senior Hilary Mainka, junior Molly Campbell and junior Jess Hetrich have performed extremely well, and have each tied the individual school record for an 18-hole round (77) this season.

Participants will tee off in a shotgun start on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the first round of competition. The final round will also begin in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
