Bucknell Falls to American in Women's Lacrosse Season Opener

Bison drop 13-8 decision at American.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Bridget McGeady scored four second-half goals to lead American past Bucknell in a non-conference game on Saturday, March 3, at AU's Reeves Field.

American (1-0, 0-0 CAA), who will face the Bison in Patriot League play starting next year, also got three assists from Ashley Flanigan and a pair of goals from Nadia Harmsen.

Bucknell (0-1, 0-0 Patriot League) got a hat-trick from Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Acadmey) and two goals and one assist from Kari Evans (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) in the loss.

With the score tied 4-4 at halftime, AU came out strong to start the second frame as Holly Deland scored 43 seconds into the half. McGeady then netted two goals in less than two minutes to put AU up 7-4. The Eagles would score again before Ashley Evans (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) cut the deficit to 8-5 with a BU goal at 13:46. American then scored four straight goals to put the game away.

Bucknell heads to California for a three-game series starting on March 11.
