LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's lacrosse team dropped its second straight to start the season, falling 19-3 at Penn State on Friday night. Abby Brewster, Elizabeth Whipple and Ashley Flood tallied Bucknell's goals, while the Nittany Lions (2-0) received goals from 11 different players.

Lori Havrilla, Shari Maslin and Emily Chambers scored three goals each for the Lions, who outshot Bucknell 37-9 and won the ground ball battle 17-4.

Kristen Burke scored just 1:29 into the contest to propel Penn State to a 10-0 lead. Brewster put the Bison on the board 23:10 into the game on a free position shot, but the Lions got markers from Jessi Lieb and Joanie Plake just 39 seconds apart to take a 12-1 lead into intermission.

Chambers made it 13-1 before Whipple scored off an assist from Andrea Paraud for the Bison. Flood, a freshman, closed the scoring with her first collegiate goal from a feed from classmate Lauren Dietrich.

Lizzy McDaniel made 13 saves in 35 minutes for the Bison, while Kristen Gaines stopped two shots in relief. Three Penn State goalies combined for five saves.

Bucknell plays its third straight road game to start the season on Sunday at Columbia at 1 p.m.
