Columbia Tops Bucknell 14-8 in Women's Lax
March 6, 2005 NEW YORK, N.Y. - Elyse Pultz scored five goals and Columbia broke open a 3-3 tie with five straight goals midway through the first half en route to a 14-8 victory over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Lauren Kremer scored a career-high three goals and added an assist for the Bison, who fell to 0-3 on the season. Kremer's second goal of the day tied the game at 3-all 14 minutes into the contest, but Carrie Anderer scored three times in the Lions' game-changing 5-0 run. Liz Sanseau made it an 8-3 game at the 21:34 mark. The Bison hung close, though, tallying four of the next five goals to pull within 9-7 on Katie Edge's marker with 19:23 left to play. Anderer's fourth goal of the day gave Columbia a three-goal cushion, then Pultz and Marisa Marcellino tallied just 10 seconds apart to make it 12-7. Amy Lee tacked on a late goal for the Bison, who were outshot 29-25. Edge and Lee both finished with two goals, while Emily Burman tallied once. Lizzy McDaniel went the distance in goal and made 10 saves. Bucknell had been scheduled to play Lafayette next on Friday, but the Leopards have forfeited that game due to a violation of team rules. Instead, the Bison will next play at Drexel on Sunday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
