Bucknell Women's Lacrosse Suffers Third Straight Loss Of Season In Overtime, 12-11
March 14, 2001
Berkeley, Calif. - The Bucknell women's lacrosse team suffered its third straight loss of the season this afternoon to the University of California at Berkeley in overtime, 12-11. For two consecutive seasons now the women's lacrosse team has opened with three losses before getting a victory. The Bison began the contest with a hop in their step as they jumped all over the Golden Bears by taking a 9-5 lead into halftime. However, the second half would prove to be a different story as the Orange and Blue struggled to scratch to scoreboard until there was less than three minutes left to play in the contest. Leading the way for the Herd was sophomore Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Academy) who recorded six goals in the contest to bring her season total to 13 scores. Also tallying two goals a piece for the Bison was senior Jen Holiday (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) and freshman Laura Nuss (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek). Netting her second goal of the season for the Herd was freshman Amy Hasler (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm). Even though she allowed 12 goals in the Bison' third loss, sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Kallis (Stevensville, Md./St. Mary's) managed to save the ball 17 times in the contest. The women's lacrosse team will continue in its quest for a victory against St. Mary's on Friday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. eastern standard time. This will be the Orange and Blue's final contest during the spring break recess. Bucknell 9 2 0 -- 11 UC-Berkeley 5 6 1 -- 12
