Montefusco Tabbed Patriot League Offensive Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
April 1, 2002 LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior women's lacrosse player Melissa Montefusco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 31, 2002. It is the first league honor for Montefusco this season. Bucknell was only active in one game this past week, coming out on top of a 17-9 decision at Niagara. Montefusco was a major contributor in the Bison victory, scoring a career-high seven goals and handing out five assists for a hand in 12 of BU's 17 scores. In addition to her offensive onslaught, Montefusco also got it done on defense, recording a season-high seven ground balls in the contest. With her performance, Montefusco increased her season totals to 19 goals and 16 assists for a team-high 35 points. Her 16 assists rank fifth on the Bucknell all-time single-season assists list. She also increased her career point total to 106, moving her into ninth on the Bison career chart in that category.
The Orange and Blue are currently 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League. Bucknell hosts Monmouth on Tuesday, April 2 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Holy Cross for a crucial conference match up on Saturday, April 6 at 12:00 p.m.
