LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell junior goalkeeper Nicole Kallis received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of March in lacrosse.

The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, April 1. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of March, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Brooke Rea and freshman Cody Keffer in water polo, senior Kelly McConnell in track & field, senior Kelly Dugan in softball and sophomore Samantha Berthod in tennis.

Kallis has helped the Bison to a 4-4 record and a 1-2 mark in the Patriot League with outstanding play between the pipes. As of the latest NCAA statistical report, she led the nation in save percentage (.644) and was sixth in the country in goals against average (7.25). Her top performance of the season occurred on March 23, when the Bison lost a heartbreaking 6-5 decision to league rival Lafayette. The Bison led 5-3 early in the second half before the Leopards scored three unanswered goals, including the game-winner with 21 seconds left. Kallis stopped a season-high 24 shots in net, however, and fell just five short of Bucknell's single-game save record.

Kallis currently ranks second in the Patriot League in save percentage (.636) and goals against average (7.44).

The Bison pick up their 2002 schedule tomorrow with a non-league home match against Monmouth starting at 6 p.m.
