Suzanne Raffaele Named To 2003 Brine IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Region Team
May 27, 2003 LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior women's lacrosse player Suzanne Raffaele (Springfield, Pa./Archmere Academy) has been named to the Brine Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse Division I All-Region team, as announced by Duke head coach Kerstin Kimel, chair of the IWLCA Division I All-America Committee. Raffaele was one of 16 players named to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second-Team. Raffaele earns her first selection to the All-Region team, coming off of arguably her best season with the Orange and Blue. She recently wrapped up one of the most impressive women's lacrosse careers in school history. This year, the attack earned Bucknell's first-ever Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Award, three years after she was just the school's second PL Rookie of the Year. This season, Raffaele scored a career-best 40 goals, her fourth-straight season with at least 30 scores. She recorded eight hat tricks on the year, including four consecutive and six in the last eight games. In addition, the captain was held without a point only once in 16 games, and tallied multiple goals on 12 occasions. Raffaele was also a member of the All-League First Team for the second-straight year. In four years with the Bison, Raffaele accumulated 144 career goals, setting a Bucknell career all-time record. That total also places her sixth on the Patriot League's all-time list. In addition, with her 50 point performance this year (40 goals, 10 assists), Raffaele reached 173 points in her career, three better than the former Bison standard and good enough for eighth on the conference list. With her selection to the All-Patriot League team in her final season, Raffaele became just the sixth player in conference history to earn a spot on the all-league team all four years. She was a second-team selection in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, and earned first-team honors the past two years. Raffaele was one of three Patriot League players on the All-Region teams. Also earning a spot on the second team were Lafayette's Jennifer Stone and Lehigh's Rosie Sherry. Following is a complete list of the 2003 Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams:
