Bucknell-Navy Women's Soccer Game Suspended by Snow
Oct. 29, 2011 LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell-Navy women's soccer game was suspended nine minutes in on Saturday morning due to the snowstorm that is pelting the Northeast. The game will be replayed in its entirety at a time and location to be determined. Please check back on BucknellBison.com for further updates. The teams warmed up in a light rain, which changed over to a mix of rain and snow about 15 minutes before kickoff. Right at game time the intensity of the snow picked up considerably, and it didn't take long for the field to become covered. The referee stopped play exactly nine minutes into the contest, and the match was suspended for the day. Bucknell did attempt three shots in those nine minutes, all of which were saved easily by Alexes Lopez-Shaw. Liz Dwornik attempted two of the shots, while Evelyn Nicinski had the other. Sam Lee took Navy's lone shot, which was blocked by a Bison defender. Prior to the start of play, Bucknell was able to honor its four seniors: Sadie Canter, Tara Cort, Casey Crowley and Megan DeGennaro.
This is the final match of the regular season, and it carries considerable weight. Bucknell and Navy are vying for the fourth and final Patriot League Tournament berth. The Bison nab that final spot with a win, while Navy gets in with a win or tie.
