LEWISBURG, Pa. - Despite holding a 14-6 advantage in shots, the Bucknell women's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net and fell to Navy, 1-0, in the Patriot League Championship match on Sunday afternoon on Varsity Soccer Field. The No.1 seeded-Bison, who claimed the league's regular season crown, finish the 2007 season with a record of 11-8-1 as the Patriot League Tournament runner-up, while the No. 3-seeded Mids, who captured their second straight title, improve to 14-4-4 and earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

After several corner kick opportunities by both sides in the opening minutes of the contest, junior Jennifer Dervarics (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) narrowly missed putting Bucknell on top as she headed the ball off the crossbar following a free kick in the 15th minute.

Then at 22:33, Dervarics managed to drive a shot past Navy goalkeeper Lizzie Barnes, but the goal was called back for offsides on the play.

With time winding down in the first half, Sam Schroth sent a pass to Lauren Bresnahan who chipped a cross into the box for Carissa Youker who notched the lone tally of the day with a driving shot from 10 yards out at 41:33.

The Bison took nine shots in the second half, however, placed only two on target, both of which were turned aside by Barnes. Barnes finished with three saves, while sophomore goalkeeper Kathryn Sutton (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) logged one save for the Orange and Blue. Bucknell led in corner kicks, 7-4, and fouls were 12-3 against the Mids.

Three Bison were named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team as Dervarics, sophomore Molly Linhart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) and sophomore Chelsea McGorry (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill Regional) represented Bucknell on the squad. Dervarics and Linhart both tallied goals in the team's 2-1 semifinal overtime victory over Army while Linhart recorded an assist against the Black Knights, as well.
